Getting to Know Katrin Jack with HBA Zurich-Zug

Katrin Jack
HBA Zurich-Zug programming director

What made you join the HBA and contribute to HBA Zurich-Zug?
The people. I have volunteered for the last two years and for me it was great to exchange with so many interesting people, both within the HBA chapter and at the events. For me being part of the HBA and the chapter is also a great opportunity to learn more and acquire different skills compared to what I do in my day-to-day job.

What is your current role and position?
I am currently a patient value access lead at Takeda in the region of Europe and Canada.

Tell us about your superpower:
I love to get things done and take immense satisfaction in being busy and productive.

What would you tell your younger self?
You can’t plan for every eventuality, so take every opportunity as it comes and make the best out of it

In your opinion, who is the symbol of gender parity? And why?
I grew up playing tennis, so one of my “symbols” of gender parity is Serena Williams. She has openly addressed the gender pay gap in sports and is continuously fighting for gender parity. Female athletes – and hopefully women outside of sport too - owe it to Williams and the champions who came before her to take up the cause and continue their fight for gender equality, because all of their efforts came with a price tag.

What are some of the great milestones of gender parity?
For me coming to the realization that my mother and her sisters were the first girls at their local high-school was somehow a defining moment. Girls being able to get a higher education together with boys in order to then being able to find a job is probably one of the biggest milestones towards coming where we are today. If women couldn’t get the same education as men, we wouldn’t be where we are today, fighting for equal pay and more women in leadership positions.

What will be your role and what do you hope to achieve volunteering for the HBA?
I am part of the programming team and we are responsible for all chapter educational and networking event planning and execution. I hope to achieve to bring valuable events with inspiring speakers to our chapter so that people want to be part of the HBA and see the value of it. At the same time, I hope to meet many like-minded people and further expand my own network but also help other people to build theirs.
