Volunteer of the month – March
Natalie Benamou, president HBA Chicago chapter recognizing Ellen Weiss
Congratulation to Ellen Weiss, March volunteer of the month. “As a six year member of the HBA, I have met many delightful, accomplished and inspiring women. It is my pleasure to help bring more professionals to the HBA circle in any way I can. In my new role as the development director at Rainbow Hospice, I educate and evangelize on behalf of better end of life experiences for everyone. We could not do the work we do without the products of who sponsor and are represented at the HBA. Thank you for this recognition.” Ellen is a volunteer on the corporate relations committee and helps to build relationships with our local corporate partners and helps bring in sponsorship as well.
Volunteer of the month – February
Please join in congratulating Laura Jiggens as the volunteer of the month for February. Laura has been a member of the HBA Chicago chapter since May 2013. Immediately after joining the chapter, Laura became a member of the market research committee. Laura played an instrumental role in the design, execution and analysis of the 2013 membership satisfaction survey. She provided valuable insights that were used to inform the HBA 2014 strategic plan. Laura's background in market research has been invaluable to the team. Recently, Laura accepted the role as one of the market research committee chairs. In her new leadership role, Laura and her team are responsible for providing support for many of the new strategic initiatives such as Healthy Connections, Executive Connections, mentoring and the lunch & learn program. In addition to her chapter committee role, Laura also volunteered to be part of the corporate brand enhancement strategy and has provided market research guidance to support that initiative. Laura has exhibited great dedication to the HBA through her volunteer activities and is a great example of how our volunteers can pursue their passion while at the same time gaining experience to help advance her career.
Volunteer of the month – January
Please join me in congratulating Susan Hanson as the January volunteer of the month.
Susan has been an HBA member since mid Sept 2012. Immediately after joining the chapter, Susan became a volunteer on the volunteer engagement committee. She quickly took on responsibility for leading Volunteer recognition efforts and has managed the volunteer of the month program. Susan does a great job of soliciting VOM nominations every month, sends the VOM a congratulatory e-mail, interviews the VOM, writes up a short article for inclusion on the HBA website, writes a letter of appreciation to their manager at their "day job" and tracks nominees/winners. In addition to doing an excellent job of managing the VOM process, Susan has been very active in helping to manage volunteer recruitment efforts at the monthly meetings. Please join me in thanking and congratulating Susan at the meeting on the 23rd. – Leslie Penles
