What are governments doing about austerity? – Well, it’s under construction…..

Pricing cuts are acute, and country reforms are rampant. Italy, Greece, Poland, Germany, and other countries in the EU are making reforms. Global healthcare reforms include drug pricing reductions, tender competition, comparative reforms, value-based purchasing where outcomes are performance based, and health system reforms (which include reforms of the delivery of care). What we do know is that when Europe cuts, the world follows.

We now know that austerity is now the new normal. Innovation alone can’t drive growth, so it is imperative that we deliver value to all stakeholders. How can we deliver value in an age of significant changes? You need to think about what it is that you need as your result, and that should then drive what you need to do upstream.

Remember, it takes three to five years to change anything, and you have to fight a battle more than once to win it.

Thanks to Sarah and Baxter for a wonderful and informative evening.HBA Chicago event
